The Christmas trip to El Papalote is turning into a December tradition at Impact Church. This year I led the team down to participate in the joy box giveaway that the church there holds annually. Its a great time to get away from the Christmas rush here in the U.S. and gain some perspective on that time of year. I just got the pictures out of Christy’s email tonight so I wanted to post them. I will posting them at ImpactChurch.tv soon as well.
Doing a little exploring can allow you to discover all kinds of interesting things about your neighborhood. For some time now people have been telling me about this area across the street from my house where kids have made bike jumps. I had always talked with people about this area in the context of disc golf but it didn’t matter, I had never been there either way. So today while I was out playing on my bike in the hidden places around my development I came across the following. I was stunned that it existed, let alone that people actually used it. Trust me, there was no Woolsey jumping going on here, but it was neat to imagine this thing packed with kids on BMX bikes doing stupid stuff that would give their mom a heart attack!
Could this be my next project? It might look ugly to you now, but all I see is a beautiful opportunity for a beautiful old boat to be restored to its former glory. If you didn’t know, I have always had a thing for old boats. This one landed in my life when my dad acquired it to harvest its engine.
The October 2007 fires have proved to be record breaking. Christy’s sister, Lori had her home right in the middle of it all. Her and the kids took off to stay at Christy’s mom’s house while her husband, Eric stuck around to see where it was going to go. She sent some pictures that Eric took from the house - check them out!
For my birthday we went down to San Diego to check out the Red Bull Air Race from Sea Port Village on San Diego Harbor. It was really worth the trip down. If they come back to town you should not miss it!
