Everyone is excited about health care reform for one reason or another. I am into it as well, I think the system we have is for the birds. So I look at the issue and admittadly I think that I am not as informed as I should be but when I look at the arguments on both sides I see a disturbing trend.
A lot of fear mongering (tsk tsk) is being dumped on the public by the truck load. And who is doing it? The republican party and other such ‘conservatives’. Talk of Death Panels and bureaucrats obstructing care from your doctor. Everyone is spewing this venom! How about the existing system that actually provides financial rewards for obstructing care. Have you seen the Increadibles? The scene in the Disney movie where Mr. Increadible is at his ‘day job’ and is being told to deny the old lady’s claim, or else – yup, thats not just Disney villainy. Seems to me that the republican party and other such conservatives are resorting to fear tactics – very distasteful and intellectually dishonest I would say.
The other thing that strikes me is that the side that is trying to promote the change both acknowledges the challenges financially and also carefully, calmly and logically outlines those areas that they feel are just not right about our existing system and they outline how they want to change them. Hmm, seems like a flicker of intellectual HONESTY maybe?
So, do we have an elected group of people that are working to do what is right? Nope. Here is what I see: those that have lost their majority rule (republican party) are bitching and crying because something is coming along that could spell real change. Well, they don’t want to see THIS kind of change and they don’t want to see a win from the other party. So, lets fabricate stories based on kernels of truth that will terrify our base. And the democrats? Well, although they have some wonderful ideas on reform and may even be able to pull off the numbers they may be a bit disengenuous as well. How many financial supporters on their side are comfortably nestled into the health insurance business and want the status quo to remain because it suits them? Probaly too many.
I think the Dem’s will fight the ‘good fight’ for the sake of their constituents and will ultimately loose to the fear mongering that they themselves have the tools to combat. Perhaps out of a desire to not really affect change but to appear to demand it. In the end, those that DO GET BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR get to STAY THERE and those in power that are funded by these monsters get to stay where they are too all the while saving face for the public.
A fight well fought and finally lost, but good try guys! We’re still there for you because we know you bled for us….
All the while, nothing changes and the US, our great ‘Christian Nation’ who was founded on ‘righteousness’ and ‘self reliance’ continues to be the shining light in this world for doing what is WRONG because we are INDEPENDANT and no one tells us what to do.
Stay tuned……………………………
