Well, this is a bummer especially with a new one in the house. We had the camera on the coffee table last night and it was sitting next to a few other things including a glass bowl. At some point the rug on the table was moved and the bowl and the camera fell; I found them on the ground. I didn’t think anything of it and put the camera back. Tonight I grabbed it to take a picture and when I turned it on the LCD was fractured all over the place. It lights up but there is no seeing what is on the screen.
First reaction is to price out a replacement but then I realized that its just a broken screen. I found some sources online that say that Canon US will sell me a replacement screen for as little as $35. All I have to do is get the camera apart and replace the screen. So, assuming that the smoke that has been coming out of the flash lately isn’t a big deal I will just buy a new LCD and add one more project to my list.
Fun with electronics!
