Before the last leaf fell off the tree this year I knew that it would be the last time I raked up all the dead, dropped figs from what is left of the grass under them. I knew it would be the last time we would have 50 crows at a time squawking in the back yard. So, I started making plans for taking it down. I didn’t have a serious plan until George from church told me that taking down a tree was a delicate thing and lots of people get hurt when they don’t know what they are doing. So, George being the guy that he is decided I needed his help (which I did). He stopped by for a couple hours over a span of two days and before I knew it the tree was reduced to a pile of logs and small branches.
I can hardly believe how big the yard looks without it there. But I have plans to get something back up in its place but it won’t be so overwhelming. Lots of stuff to do in this yard but with suggestions and help from guys like George I can see the end in sight.
By the way, the death of the fig tree was not a waste, I will have it chipped up and use it to mulch the entire back of the yard where I don’t want grass growing. The mighty fig has given its life for a good cause!
Thanks George! I could never have done it without you! If you want to see more pictures of the removal check out the photo album.
