We are pregnant! That’s right, you are reading that right. Many of you have heard by now but this is why I have been so slow in blogging lately. I have felt like there isn’t much to talk about other than this! We have been waiting to post this until our families and close friends knew. Jen & Kris, sorry you had to find out by reading my blog but we tried calling you TONS of times.

So, that is the Woolsey’s big news for 2008. The baby is due anywhere between Dec 27 and Jan 12. I am fuzzing the line because I want to think that this will not be a Christmas baby. Christy is feeling well still, a little illness at nights but the days are fine.  She sleeps more on her days off too. We are excited and every once in a while ask ourselves what we were thinking but its here now, enter ‘Parenthood’.

Yard Update | Will This Ever End!?

Yard Update 002.JPG

This is my yard today. Yes, its looking beautiful isn’t it? Well, I have been clearing the grass for the last month or so. It started with spraying it and waiting for it to die. Now that its dead its a matter of clearing it off so that the soil is exposed enough for the new grass to take. I am hoping I have done enough to get it to work. Don’t be fooled by the picture above, not all of the yard is as barren as this. Some parts just won’t clear without a TON of sweat. Check out the rest of the pictures in my PHOTO ALBUM.

Its slow, but when its done I am sure its going to be great.

That means that our economic stimulus check is here. At least mine has showed up in my bank account. I wonder what we should buy with our economic stimulus check. We could buy about 300 cups of star bucks coffee, 300 gallons of fuel or 300 of anything else that costs $4 a piece.

What will you do with your economic stimulus check?

So Upside Down

Sometimes I get online and follow bunny trails and tonight was no different. Tonight I was looking at hybrid electric vehicles and I decided to take a trip down memory lane and check in on the hybrid electric vehicle program at San Diego State College of Engineering. I figured the same professor would still be involved and instead of finding that the project was up and running I found a hand full of stories about how politics and self centered personalities wound up destroying an honorable effort.

I got the lion’s share of the details of this story from THIS ARTICLE but I had heard some of these things in the year or so after I graduated from younger students that I stayed in touch with. If you don’t know any of these people this story won’t mean much to you, but I felt compelled to share it here. This story is a reminder to me of how our pride, arrogance and unwillingness to always move toward peace can destroy something that is bigger than us. The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. I know the people in this story, and many of them insisted on honor and never considered humility. They see things completely upside down from how God has made us to be. The result was a black eye on the face of a good institution and damage to some who I consider to be honorable.

It makes me sad.

Still Slow on the Blogging Front

I am finding that lately blogging is not taking the priority that I would like it to. For those of you following and waiting for the next installment of Church Admin I am still brewing the next topic which is Team Communication. I have been dragging my feet to write this one because over the last month or so God has been showing me that we are not doing it as well as we could. In fact, its still a major stumbling block for us as I am sure it is for any decentralized church with no office. Having said that, its only fair to mention that I tend to feel spun out when things start getting ugly and I haven’t felt like I have all the tires on the road for a while. But rest assured, as we have addressed some of our team communication issues we have also discovered some good solutions that I will share here.

Jeff & Travis at Pipes in CardiffHaving said its time to share: We just had a short staff retreat to San Elijo State Beach in San Diego Sun-Tuesday. It was fun to hang out with the guys and ride our bikes all around and eat out of the deli at the Seaside Market in Cardiff. We stopped in Escondido on the way down to grab the RV. I really love that thing, its as old as me and everything still works thanks to the attention and care my dad tends to give every vehicle he owns. We had a couple of great discussions about Vince’s passion - communication; or as I call it out-of-house communication. I will share some of the ideas as part of the Church Admin series.

Where is your favorite place to camp in a tent or in an RV? Growing up I always went with my family to camp outside of Southern California. The harder it is to get where you are going the more secluded it’s going to be and we liked it like that.  I would love to check out some new places and see what Southern California camping has to offer.
